Below is a collection of Goals that training in Wing Chun hopes to achieve.
I have put these together to hopefully lay a clearer path to what we're after as a group.
————————————————————————————————————
GOAL: To improve
on an innate mode of preventative and responsive close quarter combat tactics.
WHY: Common responses against unarmed
and armed attacks alike show an innate ability to put the hands up to protect
the body. This is then cultivated, practiced
and perfected.
HOW:
- An analysis and then synthesis
of combat – where basic centre-covering, structural alignment, sensitivity
and forward pressure are honed.
- Power is generated by linking
key joint angles to enable one to pack as much power into their strikes as
their personal body structure will allow.
- Learned in a somewhat seemingly
fragmented way in order to not create a method and instead promote freedom
of expression in an individual.
Basic, Intermediate
and Advanced Learning Goals:
- BASIC
- Develop body awareness
- Develop a feeling of what Wing
Chun is about
- INTERMEDIATE
- Develop trust
- In Wing Chun
- In oneself
- In one’s skill and ability
- Develop sensitivity
- ADVANCED
- Develop one’s own personal
style
- Develop one’s own personal
learning goals
